The organization of medical education is flexible and can be adapted to the changing healthcare needs while still promoting the core values of ownership, responsibility, professionalism, compassion and patient-centered care. The program offers broad-based training in general internal medicine and its specialties.
The multi-ethnic and culturally diverse community offers a rich learning experience. The residents achieve cultural competence and learn to provide healthcare without disparities. Our residents receive a superior education in both the art and the science of medicine from highly qualified and dedicated faculty. As residents gain experience and demonstrate growth in their ability to care for patients, they assume progressive primary patient care responsibilities with greater autonomy. The residents learn the value of interdisciplinary care coordination and collaboration with consultants and other ancillary healthcare providers. They develop skills for a leadership role in a wide array of practice settings.Graduates acquire proficiency in all six domains of core competency and are well prepared for independent unsupervised practice.
