Quick summery! This fix mate only shows for Origin game library. For those who uses CD 'original' mate have other view on this.-So as in 'EA support' claim the game is only compatible with Windows 7 Only. Well we all know that's not true, the game was released back in 2003 which means it supported Windows XP.For those who got The Ultimate Collection the support claim to be only compatible for windows 7 well guess what, also not true. They made implantation of one or few.dll files in the installation folder.I don't know what they do but it seem it runs on something also this files it not part of original C&C. These.dll seem only to work compatible for windows 7.The FIX!Resolved issue C&C General & Zero hour for Windows 10 users.Open Installation folder for Origin games 'Example'- C:Program Files (x86)Origin GamesCommand and Conquer Generals Zero Hour.Inside Open either C&C General & Zero Hour folder - Find specific.dll file called dbghelp.dll select the file and delete it.Problem solved directX 8.1 Issue! If the game was installed from CD and the game running on Windows 10 you need to patch it.the CD version of the game comes with 1.04 and the latest is 1.08. Go and find a patch file and install it come back if anything changes. If the game was installed from Origin platform it would be working with no problems.

Can we get a fix please for a paid for product to work on Windows 7wrote:Our team is aware of a Direct X 8.1 error affecting Command & ConquerGenerals and Command & Conquer Zero Hour.I tried the fix posted on the help forum but deleting the file didn't fix generals zero hour problem ( Please make sure you have Direct X 8.1 or higher installed. Also that your video card meets the minimum requirements.) this ran on my pc for months so not the video card also the generals runs fine just not zero hour. Anyone know how to fix this? SamratI would request you to please carry out the following steps to provide me the content through a file.So that I can check the PC configuration through that content. Hold the Windows key + R and type dxdiag into the Run box, then hit Enter or click OK.
If a dialog box comes up, click Yes. If there is a Run 64-bit DXDiag button next to the Help button, click it. When the progress bar in the lower right corner of the program is done, click the Save All Information button. Save the information to the computer’s Desktop so it can be easily found. Copy and paste the content under the DISPLAY DEVICES and SYSTEM INFORMATION separately.

By the way, DirectX 8.1 is not a version of DirectX which comes shipped with Windows. You need to install DirectX 9.0c (which apparently contains it) manually:. Download.
Run it, then tell it to extract the necessary files to any folder of your choosing (one you'll easily browse to). After it's finished, go to that folder and run DXSETUP.exe as administrator. Reboot your computer once the installation is finished. This will resolve the missing DirectX library issue for C&C Generals, C&C 3 Tiberium Wars, C&C Red Alert 3, C&C 4 Tiberian Twilight and their expansions, as well as the Battle for Middle-earth series.
